As part of my Masters' Thesis, I designed and built a hydrofoil with internal channels in order to complete dye visualization experiments with ease. The wing was designed to blend seamlessly into the existing experimental setup and the internal channels allowed for the dye to flow into the wake of the foil without disturbing the wake. The wing was printed on a Form II printer (in clear plastic) in pieces, then the pieces were assembled together and the final wing was sprayed with waterproof paint to protect the wing, smooth out any imperfections, and to allow it to be seen underwater.
